What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a treatment that involves tiny needles being inserted into the upper layers of the skin in order to stimulate skin repair. A vitamin solution is painted on the skin and then a pen with small needle tips is passed along the skin. Microneedling can also be combined with an acid peel to powerfully resurface the skin and close pores.
How does Microneedling work?
Microneedling stimulates the body’s natural repair response. Each pass of the microneedling pen creates small areas of trauma and channels that enable the absorption of nutrients into the deeper layers of the skin. In response to the trauma, the skin will repair and generate new collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans (skin hydrators) such as hyaluronic acid. This makes the skin look brighter, more hydrated, smoother and helps to treat pigmentation and acne scars.
Microneedling can be combined with an acid peel. A natural acid-blend is applied after microneedling. Due to the creation of tiny channels, the acid is able to penetrate much deeper into the skin in order to smooth scars, reduce pigmentation shrink pores.

How to prepare?
At your consultation with us, we will assess your skin, discuss your skin concerns and make a treatment plan to address your skin needs. At your treatment appointment, your practitioner will discuss the steps of treatment and take you through the process of consent. We will then clean the skin and take pre-treatment photographs. You will be given a head band and towel to protect your clothing. Numbing cream is applied and left on for approximately 20 minutes. The skin is then cleaned, a rich nutrient solution is applied and the treatment is started. You may feel some light prickling on the skin, but this is not painful. The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes to do. At the end of treatment, the practitioner will apply soothing cream and an LED mask. We recommend that you use simple moisturisers and sunblock for 3-5 days after treatment.
Microneedling is a safe and effective treatment to improve skin texture, acne scars, pigmentation and signs of ageing. The treatment is suitable for all skin types. Due to the use of numbing cream, we do not recommend this treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
For optimal results, most patients will require 6-8 sessions (approximately 1 session every month).
Most people will notice that their skin is more vibrant and dewy the day after treatment. Improvement in scars, pigmentation or signs of ageing may take several sessions to become apparent.
The results of a course of treatment are long-term. We do recommend regular maintenance to maintain optimal results.
The treatment is not painful. Some people may feel a mild prickling sensation during the treatment.
There is some redness and sensitivity of the skin after treatment and this may last for 1-3 days. Most people can continue with normal work and social activities a day after treatment.
Microneedling is carried out by our experienced therapists.
We recommend that you pause any treatments like retinol, tretinoin, salicylic acid or glycolic for 5 days prior treatment.
